The Rundown – March 2022
I’m pulling spring into the world as if my life depends on it. I don’t know about you, but it has been a long. hard. winter. As things in the world continue to devolve, I’m thinking about flowers, bunnies, and sunshine. Join me…
Here’s your roundup for March 2022.
What I’m Reading
Books
I’m re-reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I mentioned Hill earlier this month when we started thinking about what we want. This book is super old-school (circa 1930) and it has some great step-by-step processes for using the power of positive thinking to make your dreams come true. Like I said earlier, if you decide to read this book (which I recommend you do) keep in mind that Hill and others in the new thought movement of the early 1900s were a product of their time and context (as we all are) and therefore have some outdated (and frankly offensive) ideas about women and people of color. While it is easy for a group of mainly white men to believe in the power of positive thinking to overcome all obstacles, there are also key lessons about understanding how our thought patterns shape outcomes that are useful today and can be harnessed to bring about tangible progress. We can reclaim and repurpose ideas from the past and, without excusing their shortcomings, use them to further our own aims.
