Thank. God. For. Spring.
And! I’m running a free virtual workshop in April that I want to put on your radar. It’s called Tiny but Mighty: Five Game-Changing Principles That Create a Thriving Business of One. During this free 90-minute workshop, we’ll diagnose the barriers holding you back from fulfilling work that gives you the life you want.
If you’re a solopreneur at a crossroads in your business, I’d love to see you there.
Here’s your roundup for March.
Podcast
This month marks the re-launch of my rebranded podcast. My Substack subscribers will get early access to all of the episodes (2 days before it goes live everywhere else.)
On March 28th, I rolled out episode 1, which was an amazing conversation on freedom with my dear friend Molly Rose Speed. Find it in my Substack or wherever you get your podcasts.
What I’m Reading
Books
I first read Self-Reliance and Other Essays by Ralph Waldo Emerson when I was in high school. I picked it up this month because I’ve been seeing quotes and references to it pop-up in my life. When the universe sends me signs, I listen.
Emerson gave me a fresh perspective on ideas like autonomy, agency, and authority while reinforcing concepts that have recently coalesced for me in new ways. There are no new ideas, only new ways of manifesting them in the world; seeing how my work pulls on threads from other thinkers helps me see the through-line. Reading work from a different era also helps by taking concepts outside of the present-day context, which can give them different clarity and meaning.
“Your genuine action will explain itself, and explain your other genuine actions. Your conformity explains nothing.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Other stuff
Why Everyone Feels Like They’re Faking It, Leslie Jamison, The New Yorker
When the Cause is Everything, Charles Eisenstein, His Substack
This one was so moving that I had to also pull out this quote for you: “To be sane in this world, it is necessary to carry both the horror and the beauty in one’s heart. Then you are playing with a full deck of cards. The full spectrum of the condition of life on earth will inform the heart in its choices.”
