Summer really snuck up on me this year, and I’ve had a really hard time focusing on work over the past month. I’m trying to lean into that feeling and take some time to be idle, which is something that doesn’t come naturally to me. I’ve included some reading and resources below to help us embrace idleness and rest this summer.
PS: Despite my best efforts to not work, I’ll be hosting two FREE workshops in July (full details below), AND I just launched a FREE Solopreneur Business Model Diagnostic assessment.
Here’s your rundown for June.
What I’m Reading
Books
Over the last few years, I’ve gotten pretty lazy about my fiction reading. I read a lot of nonfiction and have such a long “to read” list that it is difficult to carve out dedicated time to find new fiction and invest time in it. I still read fiction every day because it is one of the ways I unwind and turn off my brain before I go to bed, but I fall back to books I’ve read over and over again because I know I love them.
Here are some of the books on that list. As you can tell, I’m a huge fantasy nerd, and I love book series because it takes the guesswork out of what to read next. Each time I re-read one of these books it feels like I’m visiting old friends because I know the characters so well.
All Creatures Great and Small series by James Herriot
Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss
