This month I’m launching a new recurring post for the Hustler’s Manifesto – The Monthly Space Weather Forecast.
Humans have always tried to cultivate luck and avoid potentially problematic situations. If we have a choice, we work toward the best possible outcomes for our endeavors. There are always periods of time when we feel like things are either going our way or working against us. The trick is being able to see a favorable or unfavorable time period in advance, so we can take advantage of it or mitigate our losses.
In I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew by Dr. Suess, the protagonist spends the entire story trying to get to a place “without any troubles, or at least very few.”
By the end of the book, he realizes that no such place exists and decides to take his fate into his own hands.
“I know I’ll have troubles.
I’ll, maybe, get stung.
I’ll always have troubles.
I’ll, maybe, get bit
By that Green-Headed Quail
On the place where I sit.
But I’ve brought a big bat.
I’m ready, you see.
Now my troubles are going to
Have troubles with me!”
For me, astrology is that bat.
We can’t always avoid trouble, but we can be proactive in navigating it.
I’ve been using astrology for the last fifteen years as a vital tool for understanding and managing the ebb and flow of my inner motivations and external events. Astrology gives me a big-picture view of fortune at any given moment so that I can see the potential bright spots and tough moments, and navigate them accordingly. Astrology doesn’t tell you exactly what is going to happen, it gives you the “space weather” so you can make more informed decisions.
Up until now, I’ve never publicly shared my affinity for astrology because I worried about people thinking it was naïve, crazy, and useless. Frankly, I felt that my public persona would be less credible if people knew how much I rely on astrology to guide my thinking, planning, and actions.
I’ve come to a point where I don’t care.
Astrology is an incredibly potent tool for knowing yourself and deeply understanding long-term societal cycles. It has given me so much, and I would be remiss not to offer it to you as an instrument for navigating our unpredictable world.
As with many things, most people who don’t think something is credible often know nothing about it. The astrological “sign” that most people are familiar with is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of how astrology works.
Astrology has been used by almost all cultures since ancient times to better understand individual lives, forecast societal cycles, and select ideal timing for events. World leaders from Queen Elizabeth I to Nancy and Ronald Regan have used astrology to guide key decisions.
If you’re a skeptic, I challenge you to listen in and see if anything resonates. (You can also just delete this post from your inbox each month and keep reading everything else I send you.)
This month’s post will be pretty long because I will give you some background on using this information and other resources if you want to go deeper. I’ll link back to this post each month if you want to review that info. What’s happening this month, August 2022, is near the bottom. I promise each one of these won’t be this long. :)
The Monthly Space Weather Forecast Isn’t
Let me be clear – I am not an astrologer.
That means this isn’t an astrological forecast, list of transits, prediction of things to come, or professional opinion about how the space weather will affect your life. I’m not going to tell you the “why” behind the space weather (e.g., Saturn moves into Aquarius); I’m just going to give you the themes.
I’m also not teaching you the basics of astrology, how to understand your birth chart or the longer-term cycles of the planets. I’ll give you my best resources for this below if you’re interested in learning more.
The Monthly Space Weather Forecast Is
I am an astrological enthusiast who has studied it practically and relies on incredibly talented astrologers to provide me with the information I need in my work and life. Each month I will give you a summary of dos and don’ts based on the compiled knowledge from those experts with my take on how that information can be used to your advantage. I’ll also show you the moons, “hot-spots,” and “sweet spots.”
What I’ve Learned About Astrology From My Own Experience
Forecasting, not predicting
I call this “space weather” for a reason. Astrology does not predict exactly what will happen at any given moment; it gives you a sense of the prevailing currents flowing through the universe. This makes it the perfect tool for hustlers to use in the face of uncertainty because you can better tailor your tactics to what is more likely to work in that particular moment.
Incredibly personal
I’ll give you the general “space weather,” but the way that will impact you is entirely dependent on your astrological chart based on the date, time, and location of your birth. If you don’t know what a birth chart is and have only known your one astrological “sign,” you’re just scratching the surface of what astrology can tell you about yourself and the events in your life. This is why your “sign” doesn’t always feel like it reflects who you are, and tabloid horoscopes usually don’t resonate.
If you’re ever interested in better understanding your birth chart so that you can better understand the implications of “space weather” in your life, I suggest you get a professional to give you a reading. (Shoot me an email if you want a recommendation.) You can also use my go-to resource for understanding the basics of your chart, Chani Nicholas’ book, You Were Born For This. (See more about Chani in my resources section below.)
If you’re not interested in finding out more about your birth chart, that’s fine too. Just keep in mind that the high-level information I’ll provide you in this post will impact you differently (or not impact you at all) based on your own chart.
Avoid rabbit holes and anxiety thinking at all costs
I’m prone to anxiety, and carefully watching the short- and long-term patterns can lead me to "predict” precisely what will happen in my life or the world more broadly. Trying to out-think the universe is a fruitless endeavor; take the space weather for what it is, use it to your advantage where you can, and don’t let it control your life.
Astrology Resources
If you want to go deeper, here are a few of my go-to resources for astrology and the sources from which I’ll gather the information each month that I share with you.
All things astrology - Chris Brennan and The Astrology Podcast: This is my most trusted go-to resource for all things astrology. Chris does a monthly forecast with astrologer, Austin Coppock, that I listen to religiously. His podcast also has other incredibly comprehensive episodes that can give you a primer on signs, planets, houses, and everything else you need to know. Chris and Austin offer comprehensive courses.
The astrology of yourself - Chani Nicholas: Chani is an amazing astrologer who writes the most moving prose. You can sign up for her mailing list for regular horoscopes, get her app, and shop for many other amazing things on her site. Her book, You Were Born For This, is the best primer to better understand your astrology of yourself.
Big-picture astrological cycles across history - Cosmos and Psyche by Richard Tarnas: This is an epic book that lays the groundwork for how planetary cycles manifest in societal cycles. Tarnas takes you on a journey across centuries, mapping the correlation between planetary transits and global events.
Phew! Ok. So that’s the primer. Like I said, I’ll link to this each month so you can refer back to it as needed.

Without further ado, here is your space weather forecast for August 2022.
August is a tricky month, likely one of the most challenging months of the year in terms of space weather. The beginning of the month is marked with configurations that will challenge our assumptions about boundaries and our desires to transcend them. We’ll find ourselves bumping up against structures that may need to be dismantled or watching structures fall that we thought were a given. You may also bump up against your own patterns around anger and coping mechanisms in the face of chaos. Proceed with caution this month in terms of risks and new endeavors, and expect the unexpected.
On top of this volatile energy, there is also a current of calm deliberation. You may find your ability to “keep calm and carry on” emphasized, which is right in time because we’re all going to need it. Focusing on the facts and not getting caught up in the chaos will serve you well.
Near the month’s end, a shift triggers themes that will continue for the next eight months. Pay attention to things that feel prickly as they might be harbingers of long-term refrains through March of 2023.
Do
Embrace change
Break boundaries
Keep calm
Pick your battles
Focus on the facts
Say what you mean and mean what you say
Don’t
Take unnecessary risks
Start new things
Take on new responsibilities
I’ll offer a cool graphic each month that illustrates the monthly themes and key dates. I’m including it for free this month – starting next month, it will only be available to paying subscribers.
